Our Music Program

My name is Gia Dreyer, and I am honored to be your Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack! A little about myself, I have two degrees in music, specifically music composition and ethnomusicology; I am an avid reader of theory and philosophy; and my spouse and I have a pet rabbit named Charles!

 

I had my inaugural service on October 4th, and I was so excited to meet you all. My mission at First Presbyterian Church is directed towards catering to your needs and music interests. I hope that as we become more familiar with each other, we will sing together in unity. Encouraging singing together is my immediate prerogative, and I ask that you share with me your favorite hymns and anthems. As I organize the library, I intend to include your recommendations and ensure that you are heard.  As an avid singer, a common apothegm in choir singing is “listen louder than you sing.” With that said, I am open ears and ready to work together with all of you to curate a music experience that resonates with our faith and the responsibility of the church’s mission.

 

I am excited to meet you all, and I look forward to becoming part of the beautiful community of First Presbyterian Church of Hackensack.
